The Southern Baptist Convention forms a missionary organization to take the gospel out West.
1869
Thirteen families settle in the Texas plains and establish the Holford Prairie Church.
1882
The church grows to 37 people and moves into town, creating First Baptist Church of Lewisville.
1962
First Baptist Church of Lewisville plants a church just down the road, Lakeland Baptist Church.
1978
Lakeland Baptist Church plants Highland Village First Baptist Church in Highland Village.
2002
Highland Village First Baptist Church becomes The Village Church after Matt Chandler is hired as lead pastor.
2005
The Village Church plants its first church, Providence Church in Frisco, Texas, under the leadership
of Barry Keldie.
2006
The Village Church plants its second church, CityView Church in Keller, Texas, with Rick White as the
lead pastor.
2007
The Village Church and Grace Temple Baptist Church merge into a new congregation, the Denton campus.
2009
The Highland Village campus moves to a vacant grocery store and becomes the Flower Mound campus.
2009
The Village Church forms its third campus, Dallas Northway, with Northway Baptist Church.
2011
The Village Church sends Scott Brooks to Coppell, Texas, to start its third church plant, The Door.
2013
The Village Church, after purchasing a building the previous year, launches its fourth campus, Fort Worth.
2014
The Village Church sends Blake Chilton to plant Declaration Church in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
2014
The Village Church purchases a church building in the city of Plano and launches its fifth campus.
2015
We officially change our name from First Baptist Church of Highland Village to The Village Church.
2015
After years of prayer and planning, the Denton campus transitions into an autonomous church, The Village Church Denton, naming Beau Hughes as pastor.
2016
The Village Church launches its sixth campus, Southlake, with Carroll Baptist Church.
2017
The Village Church shares a new vision called Multiply, which includes transitioning all of its campuses into autonomous churches by 2022.
2020
The Village Church introduces a new mission statement: We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
2021
The Multiply vision is fully realized as The Village's Southlake campus transitions to become Restoration Church.
