TVC Responsibilities:
I support the ministry of the Care Department through care advocacy, premarital counseling, crisis marriage counseling, and mentoring men who want to grow in their love for Jesus and others.
When and how did the Lord save you?
As a single dad raising daughters, I longed for change, peace, and an end to the darkness of my past decisions and current circumstances. I knew of Jesus but was not a follower. I met an incredible woman who loved and followed Him, and at her encouragement, I began to seek what He was all about. At the age of 36, I was born again at a men’s retreat in October of 1991. Jesus rescued me from generational sin and changed my family legacy through His love, grace, and tender mercy. I married that incredible woman in July of 1992 and have been serving Him ever since.
When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
After 19 years with a church plant that eventually became Valley Creek Church, the Lord graciously and tenderly led us to The Village Church. I consider that change as one of the sweetest gifts He has ever given me.
If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
I would choose to speak on marriage. Having done it so poorly on my own, I have experienced the benefit and blessing of doing it God’s way. Through obedience, suffering, and the death of so many idols of self, I can testify to the beauty and contentment of His purpose for two becoming one flesh.
If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
I would have been a physician. Serving and healing others have always been part of how God made me.
Favorite Hobby:
I love playing golf, hiking, and pouring into my grandchildren. Being a grandparent is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.
