Deacon

TVC Responsibilities:
I serve TVC as a Care Deacon, helping to provide care to members and regular attenders in a variety of ways. Every Tuesday night you can find me helping to lead Art of Care, our program for training members and leaders in how to care well for one another. I also support the Redemptive Care Ministry, coaching the leaders of our Men of Peace group in Recovery. I am a professional counselor in the community, so occasionally my insight is brought into various care situations members or attenders may be facing.

When and how did the Lord save you?
I trusted Christ at the age of 8 in the church I grew up in. That childlike faith was tested a few years later; my father passed away when I was 12. My teenage years were pretty difficult as I struggled with the trauma of complicated grief at such a young age. But God was faithful, and I would say my faith really became my own when I was a senior in high school.

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
I am originally from the DFW area, but from 1998–2008 I served in pastoral ministry in Atlanta. When a friend found out we were moving back to the area, he invited us to check out TVC. After that first visit, we didn’t visit any other churches.

If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
Here at TVC and elsewhere, I teach on the topics of domestic abuse, trauma, grief, and neurodivergence quite a bit because those are some of my specialties as a professional counselor.

If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
Professional athlete or astronaut
