Why does The Village Church believe so strongly in Home Groups? One of the things we're trying to accomplish at The Village is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We feel that this is best done in a home group atmosphere. It's in these groups that we experience accountability toward each other as we seek this growing relationship with Christ. Our home groups provide a safe predictable environment where no one slips through the cracks. True accountability can be reached with a constant group of people in each community group. People benefit from the fellowship and accountability of a Home Group while still serving on Sunday mornings. We believe accountability, care, and a sense of belonging are critical to balance and progress in our spiritual journey. These are best achieved within the context of a Home Group of like-minded, relationally-connected believers. At the Village, the Home Group is the best place for sustained life change to occur. In a home group, people study God's Word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life. Practically speaking, there will never be a way for the staff or elders to personally minister to everyone who attends our church. That's why we place such a high premium on group life. It's how we minister effectively to each other. |
