The Village PUB

A Village Magazine serving as the voice of the Villagers

pub@thevillagechurch.net

**The PUB is taking a break for awhile. Check back later for the new and improved PUBlication.**

Why Call It The Village PUB?

Although “pub” is simply short for publication, we won’t deny the blatant double meaning. Historically, the village pub or tavern was more than the local “watering hole” it was a gathering place for noblemen and commoners alike to exchange ideas on politics, current events and religion. Community and fellowship among townspeople is foreign to this isolated generation. The Village PUB seeks to rediscover the lost art of honest conversation and provide an open forum for interactive discussion on culture, art, the Church and religion. Come on in and pull up a stool.

Writing for The Village PUB

Qualities of a PUB Article

The PUB is advertised as being “the voice of the Villagers” and we want it to be just that – a forum to voice your opinions, questions and struggles with openness and sincerity. Our prayer is that through these interactive discussions our minds will be stretched, our faith will be deepened and our community will be strengthened.

How Often Will The PUB Be Printed?

The PUB has no strict schedule. Please check the web site often for upcoming deadlines.

What Kinds Of Articles Is The PUB Looking For?

The PUB has two major sections and three departments.

1. Theme section. A portion of each issue focuses on a single theme.
2. Non-theme section. Each issue has several non-theme articles of general interest.
3. Read Books; They Make You Smarter: a department of book reviews. The PUB encourages those who are interested to read a current book (released the last six months or so) or a piece of classic literature or theology, write a short review, rate it from one to five stars and submitted it by the due date.
4. Reviewed: a department of music and movie reviews. The PUB encourages those who are interested to listen to a current CD (released the last three months or so) or see a current movie (in theatres within the last three months or so), write a short review, rate it from one to five stars and submitted it by the due date.
5. Film & Theology: a department of theological interpretations on popular films and cinematic themes.
6. Sound Doctrine: a department on music and worship.
