How Do I Apply?

10 Steps To Going On A Village Mission Trip

  1. PRAY
  2. Pray that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you through this process. He is faithful to reveal each step to take along the way. Ask for confirmation in the specific location He is calling you to.

  3. GATHER INFORMATION
  4. Check the missions website for the latest updated details for each trip. Here you can find project specifics, dates, costs, and applications.

  5. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION
  6. You can either download the application or pick up a copy in the church lobby. This application will provide specific, detailed, information that will help us get to know you better as we begin to form upcoming teams. Please return all applications to Matt Elkins in the church office.

  7. OBTAIN PASSPORT
  8. Obtaining a passport can be a lengthy application process. Even if you are not sure of the exact trip you would like to go on, we still suggest that you apply for a passport as soon as possible. All but one Village Expedition requires a passport. You can either download a passport application here or pick one up at the passport window at your local United States Post Office. Follow the instructions on the form. FYI -You will also need 3 or 4 passport-sized pictures to complete the process. (Although you often can have these pictures made on the spot at the Post Office, it is less expensive to pick up several of these passport-sized pictures at a retail store that offers general film processing services.)

  9. AWAIT RESPONSE OF TEAM SELECTION
  10. MAKE THE DECISION TO GO
  11. Confirm that you will be going on the trip and pay any deposits. You will also be asked to sign a team covenant that outlines commitment to personal growth, teamwork, and writing a support-raising letter.

  12. ATTEND TEAM TRAINING
  13. Each team will undergo training as you prepare for the trip. Participation in these meetings is mandatory and will be an excellent way to build team unity as well as a way to gain cross culture skills and basic language.

  14. SUPPORT-RAISING
  15. You need to share about the upcoming trip with friends and family, believers and non-believers. You will need to write a support letter enlisting those who will commit to supporting you financially and through prayer.

  16. GO! THEN SHARE
  17. Share with every one upon your return home. It's also a good idea to send a follow-up letter to everyone who supported you financially and in prayer.

  18. GET INVOLVED BACK HOME!
  19. Look for opportunities to pray for the world, send others on trips overseas, welcome Internationals, and share the vision you've caught with others!
