Student Mentoring - Champions of Hope

The Champions of Hope Program is designed to provide mentors for teens ages 12 to 18. Ongoing mentorship provides teens with an alternative to drugs, crime, pregnancy and other pressures offered by the surrounding community. Our hope is to encourage and walk with each teen as they grow in the knowledge of themselves and Christ. The program requires each mentor to meet with a teen twice a month and contacting them throughout the week. Immediate needs include:

• Mentors (specifically men)
• Apprentices to becoming mentors
• Volunteers to help organize the ministry; scheduling, database, planning, Bible curriculum, etc

CKIDS is an outreach to children who are in grades K-6th and meets on the first and fourth (fifth if applicable) Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The ministry consists of Bible study, recreation, crafts, dancing, and lunch. It has a "backyard Bible School" feel with some inner-city twists. Both individuals and teams are needed to take leadership of each of the following areas:

• Big Group Time - teaching a Bible story
• Crafts - designing a craft for all age-groups relating to the teaching
• Games - facilitate some outdoor recreational activity
• Dancing - choreograph and/or teach a God-honoring dance to Christian rap, hip hop, or R&B
• Food - provide a meal for 30 to 40 kids
• Goodie Bags - prepare 30 to 40 bags with food, toys, etc. that relates to Big Group teaching

Cornerstone Dallas has numerous ministries including Park Manor "Senior Citizens" Apartment Complex, the Homeless Ministry, Construction Service, as well as a Prison Ministry.
