Life Story

My story is one marked by contradiction and confusion—until the Lord saved me. I grew up in a home that attended church but did not fully explain or display the gospel. At times, I heard the gospel, but my ears were deaf to hear God’s loving call to repentance.

I prided myself on being a “good kid” as I attended church and made good grades but I was living a lie. I had no desire to love and serve God, much less submit to Him as my Father. While in high school, I wandered far from the Lord. My outrageous and awful sin against the Lord continued to grow. I was in happy rebellion against God, but He continued to pursue me.

Through a series of events, I ended up going on a global missions trip to Cambodia in which I was confronted with brokenness in a new way. God was chipping away at my worldview. Around that time my best friend was saved and both he and my mom began to share the gospel with me and pray for me.

Over the course of the next few weeks I began to read Scripture, contemplate the gospel and come to terms with my sinfulness. God then granted me the gift of repentance and faith. Shortly after this time, I began leading in ministry at my local church. It was during this season that I met and married my beautiful bride, Katy.

Katy and I then moved to Portland, Oregon, so I could pursue my Master of Divinity at Western Seminary. During this time I felt called to pastoral ministry. After some time in the Houston area, we came to The Village. Katy and I also have a daughter, Peyton Rose.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is that we would be known not only for our faithfulness to the Scriptures, but also for our deep, abiding love for people. I hope that, as God pursues us, we would pursue each other by producing disciple-making disciples.
