Life Story

During my freshman year of college, a friend invited me to a Bible study that gathered in our dorm. As the group discussed the story of Jonah, I heard about God’s grace toward sinners for the first time. The next day, a leader from the Bible study invited me to lunch. He talked about the Bible in ways I had never heard before. I felt convicted of my sin and assured of God’s gracious disposition toward sinners and Christ’s salvific death and resurrection on my behalf. I became convinced that God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8).

After my conversion, I began to serve in various ways in campus ministry. It was here that God began to instill in me a deep desire to make disciples. Soon after, I met Macy, my wife and best friend. After graduation, we had every intention of giving our lives to full-time campus ministry. However, during a premarital class, our pastor encouraged me to consider seminary school. At that point, I didn’t even know what seminary was. After learning more about it, Macy and I decided to take his advice and moved to Dallas, where I received a master’s degree in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary

While in Dallas, I also served on staff at Fellowship Bible Church. The theological education that I received at DTS and the pastoral ministry experience I received in the church was invaluable. My love for theology and discipleship led Macy and me to move to Louisville, Ky., so I could further pursue my education at Southern Seminary. In December 2014, I received my doctorate in systematic theology from Southern.

In fall 2014, God brought Macy and me back to Texas, where I now serve His people as the pastor of Training at The Village.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is that we would be a church that is unwaveringly committed to the glory of God and the discipleship of His people. I pray that we continue to worship the triune God, participate in deep and rich community, partake in service to God and His people and live missionally for the sake of His glory.
